“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” - Isaiah 61:1-3

There is no better way to answer the questions of: “What am I doing as a counselor?” and “how am I doing what I do?” than with the aforementioned verse. All my life experiences (both good and bad), and my training (both as a counselor and as an engineer) have been and are being used by GOD to help “the poor, broken hearted, captive, bound, and mourning – whether they be young or old, married or single, female or male etc.

Originally from Ghana and having lived in Iowa City, IA and Columbia, SC before coming to Pensacola; I have a variety of experiences to draw from, in addition to my counseling training (even my background in civil engineering), that will help me point you towards true, lasting healing. I have training and experience with children, couples, individuals and families and welcome the opportunity to help you.

The struggle is real, but so is Jesus!

Life has a way of throwing us curveballs that spark fear, anxiety, trauma, and depression that can make our thoughts spin out of control.  However, God said clearly in Isaiah 41:40, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."  The good news is that we don't have to do life alone!  I am here to listen to your story and walk with you as you continue to write the next chapter that brings fulfillment and love through Jesus Christ.

Twenty years of experience working with children and adolescents have taught me that no single issue can be dealt with in isolation.  I believe in a holistic, integrative approach to counseling that revolves around the whole person.  Together, we will identify your concerns and approach them with a combination of therapeutic practices and scripture.  I have training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Theraplay, play therapy techniques, art-informed therapy techniques, trauma-based relational intervention (TBRI), as well as trauma -informed therapy modalities to include the following: Sandtray Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Managing Emotional States Emotional (MESE). I also have a therapy dog-in-training named Esther.  As a hypoallergenic miniature goldendoodle, Esther truly joined our team "for such a time as this." Esther is incorporated into sessions when it is mutually beneficial for both her and the client. I'm excited to work with people and families of all ages and backgrounds as we walk through this journey of healing and wellness together.

“I have been in public service my whole career but have always felt like I was being led to do more.  I believe that strong families are the cornerstone of a thriving community, and as Christians it is our duty to follow Matthew 5:14 and be the light of the world.  When we falter and are not exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit due to personal trouble or trauma as outlined in Galatians 5:22, what better way to receive a spiritual tune up than through Christ centered counselling.

Having worked with disadvantaged children and families, as well as adults suffering from severe acute and chronic mental health crises, I have found that my ability to connect with them on a human level and remain open minded is one of my greatest strengths as I help them identify and develop strengths to cope with their challenges.  All burdens are not meant to be dealt with alone. When someone is reaching out for help, I’m happy to provide assistance and demonstrate that where two or three are gathered in My name, there I am.”

"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."

"It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure." - Psalm 18:32.

God shapes and prepares us to play a unique role in each step of our lives. He gives us purpose. Every moment we experience prepares us for the next part of our journey. Sometimes, that experience is seeking assistance.  Whether that assistance requires encouragement and hope during hard times or more in-depth therapy, I am here to help.
I am experienced/trained in Trauma Therapy, Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Adolescent/Adult individual and group therapy. I am certified in ART and MESE trauma therapies. I continue to learn new techniques in order to provide the best services to meet my client's needs.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.”

Psalm 139:14

Life is difficult, and because of challenging experiences, we begin to carry the shackles that weigh us down and believe the lies we tell ourselves.  But even in the darkest moments, you are worthy. God has a purpose for you.  Healing is possible!  You are not alone in this process, and I pray that you know how truly special and loved you are.  I pray you find growth and healing in your journey.

I am an Air Force veteran with a passion for helping civilians and military community members.  I am trained and have experience with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Managing Emotional States Effectively (MESE), Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), play-informed therapy, and art-informed therapy.  You are truly unique; therefore, each session is tailored to meet your individual needs.   I’m proud of you for choosing to heal, grow, and overcome the difficulties that trouble you.

I look forward to walking alongside you in

your journey of healing.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference."

The Serenity Prayer

In this beautiful life, we will have trials and tribulations which will endure pain, happiness, sadness, struggle, betrayal and more. However, we must remember that God will always be here for us. Sometimes when we become discouraged and we think God is doing nothing in our favor, we must understand that it's because we are in the process of waiting. God is always guiding us and strengthening us in the waiting process. God will never put more on us than we can bare. We all may have trials, but we must believe and trust in God with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. I am a student intern at Troy University in the Clinical Mental Health Program. I worked for years educating students with autism and with children in the Escambia County School District. I also have experience working with families in the Child Welfare system. I am currently working for Hope Florida, where I have been able to assist countless clients continue their education and get into GED programs, find housing, obtain funding to pay for past due utility bills and find part- and full-time employment. The fulfillment I receive helping the citizens of the State is sometimes immeasurable. Counseling is dear to me because I love to uplift and encourage the next individual. In this life we will all experience a time when we will need someone to talk to. Someone who cares enough and has the patience and expertise to guide the next person to make better choices and better life decisions. I want to be that person for you.

For the past 17 years, I have served the communities of Northwest Florida as a police officer.  In December of 2022, I received my master’s in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University.  As a registered intern, I am beginning the journey of a new career. In addition to my formal education and training, I bring an enormous number of real-world experiences into each counseling session.

I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) and Managing Emotional States Effectively (M.E.S.E.), using these techniques to help treat trauma, depression, anxiety, and process addictions. I have also completed Gottman Level One training to aid in working with couples.

I am a Christian counselor who views therapy from a client-centered approach, believing the client is the boss and the therapeutic relationship can be more healing than any given tactic or technique.

I am currently taking clients at Faith and Hope Counseling; my ideal clients are adults and couples.

"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending."   - C.S. Lewis

In this world in which we live, life can get messy. We often find ourselves feeling stuck in places of abandonment, betrayal, uncertainty, and battling the harm of traumatic experiences. As I stepped into my own life's story several years ago, I found myself called to help others through doing what I believe God purposed me for. The therapeutic alliance between client and counselor can provide the fertile soil where healing can begin and personal growth can flourish. My goal is to create that safe space for you. I am a practicum student at Troy University pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Specialized training includes Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Gottman Method Couple's Therapy, and Narrative Focused Trauma Care Levels I and II training through The Allender Center. I have extensive training in the treatment of trauma, and two years experience facilitating narrative story groups for women who are survivors of sexual trauma. I work with individuals who have experienced childhood neglect and abuse, sexual assault, PTSD, and Complex PTSD. I am currently training to become a Certified Unwanted Guide to help individuals on their journey as they courageously address unwanted sexual behaviors.

I believe God made us for community with one another and that healing happens well in that place. You are not alone! I would be honored to meet you where you find yourself and sit with you there. As witness to the complexities that are holding you back from the freedom of embracing life wholeheartedly, my hope is to help you navigate a pathway to healing.

Embrace the journey; your story isn't over yet!  #choosetokeepgoing

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Maybe you are feeling weary and burdened right now. You are not alone. I know that the challenges in our lives can oftentimes become overwhelming. My prayer is that your time at Faith and Hope Counseling Center would promote your faith in God and your sense of well-being.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” - Hebrews 11:1

Faith does not require perfection but belief in God’s promises for our lives even during times of uncertainty.

Faith does not have to see to believe!

With over twenty-five years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families through residential group home settings, outreach programs, behavioral health care settings, and school -base prevention programs, I found that my desire to help others still remains strong. Because of my determination to continue to grow and ensure deliverance of the best possible care to clients served; I am enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health program at Troy University as an Intern Student. I received my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of West Florida and certified in the state of Florida as a Prevention Professional (CPP) and as a Mental Health Professional (CMHP).

You will be an equal participant as we work to understand your feelings, change behaviors, enhance coping skills, maintain and build relationships, and improve decision-making skills to help manage your overall well-being. I will meet you where you are therapeutically by providing a confidential, safe, and non-judgmental environment to help you feel secure throughout our therapeutic relationship. My approach will cater to each person’s individual needs. I will offer techniques and strategies to support you and to develop new skills, gain insight, and adapt new habits as we work toward desired change. It will be my honor to work with you as we travel by faith through life challenges and uncertainties towards healing and wellness.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you

wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9

In 1989, I became a therapeutic foster parent for children with developmental delays and significant maladaptive behaviors. I knew the moment I met the very first child, with what we now know as Autism Spectrum Disorder, that I was exactly where God wanted me to be. In 1996, I graduated from University of West Florida with a degree in psychology and pursued a masters in Exceptional Student Education. I faithfully followed God’s lead to become a clinical mental health counselor and graduated from Troy University with a master’s degree in 2022.

My passion has always been and continues to be working with children and adults with neurodivergent needs and the parents and caregivers who oftentimes need additional emotional support. I have the following certifications to help me provide the most informed, evidenced based services: Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS); Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT); Theraplay; TraumaPlay; Gottman Method Couples Training; Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI); Parents as Partners in Child Therapy; ADHD. I would be glad to provide you with a space to process your circumstances and provide you with hope.
